We also organise a range of trade events across the UK which appeal to various audiences.

We normally kick off the year with the ‘wine workshops’, these take place in various cities up and down the UK and involve tutored and free pour tastings with a wine maker or journalist. It gives visitors the opportunity to taste and learn about Portuguese wines outside of London.

We then host the prestigious ‘50 Great Portuguese Wines tasting’, the journalist of the year has the task of choosing their 50 Great wines, these are showcased in the summer in London, it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it! In 2012 the task lies with Julia Harding MW, we look forward to tasting her selection.

The annual tasting of Portuguese Wines normally takes place in London, it gives importers and producers the opportunity to show their latest wines to the trade, it also enables visitors to make new connections, and for new producers to find UK representation. “ViniPortugal are widely recognised to be the BEST of the trade bodies of any wine-producing country, providing excellent support to both journalists and the wine trade. They’re doing a really good job, and I hope that whoever is in charge of funding them in Portugal recognises the important work they do.” Jamie Goode, The Wine Anorak: who are we to argue with Jamie!
